Huge Build Plate
Previously, I discussed our build requirements. I am going to delve a little bit deeper into the details.
We wanted a huge ass build plate. When you start searching for big build plates you start coming into tough search. I was fortunate, that when talking with the guys from Reliabuild, they said they were happy to sell me their huge build plate.
It is an absolute monster! It boasts a 12x16 print area and the plate itself is 13x17. I intend to be able to use every square inch of it! If you do buy it, please don't forget to get the carriage, it will make mounting it that much easier.
Having bought that, we need to discuss power needs. A plate this big needs a ton of power to run it. In this case, it needs 20 amps of 24 volt DC power. We will be doing that with a separate 24v 20 amp switching power supply that I picked up on Amazon. We intend on running the bed heaters on a different power supply than the rest of the system. The wiring harness should be interesting, fortunately, if you ask the guys reliabuild nicely, they may provide the pinout for the bed. I have not asked them if they mind yet, so I will refrain from posting the information. Gents - should you guys be reading, may I have permission to post the pinouts publicly, or to a link on your site?
