Design Issues
Hi Everyone
I have been working on the design. I realized that as I started getting things put together that I was going to be working in the blind.
I experimented with several ideas:
FreeCad - and excellent open source cad system. I did, however, find it had a few "quirks". I quickly realized that I had a long row to hoe to get that system up and running
TinkerCad - It is an online system, but doesn't seem to be very "serious"
Onshape - now that is a truly legitimate online cad system. I love the interface, and it just makes sense for me. The tutorials are great, and once you figure out that you really only need 1 sketch for each plane of an assembly, you truly grasp the strength of the system.
So, I settled on Onshape. It is free, but I have to make my models public. I am not concerned about this, since I will be publishing everything as an open source project. Have at it!
Now that I have started the design, am glad that I took the pause and started documenting everything. I have found several issues that would have ruined my day and made things very uncomfortable if I didn't work them out first.
I will give you a link to my design thus far - please bear in mind, it will be in a state of flux for the next little while.....
